About Us

Science is spectral analysis. Art is light synthesis.

— Karl Kraus, 1874–1936

Light scattering spectroscopy is a tool that scientists use to analyze the structure and chemical composition of material surfaces. That knowledge enables us to understand what we can do with these materials to improve our lives.

Light scattering is also fundamental to how artists use natural objects and phenomena when they create visual experiences. Their work enables us to discover and appreciate our world in new ways.

In both science and art, in both fiction and nonfiction, and for both children and adults, brilliant new insights are possible when different world views influence each other. New concepts and revelations can come to us from many directions, as though we are catching scattered light.

At Scattered Light Press we’ve joined the growing ranks of independent publishers who are helping to launch, promote and sustain inspirational work.
